ABOUT FOUNDER

Dr. M. Abdul Haq Saheb, Founder (1901-1958)

He was born at Kurnool (A.P.) on Feb. 21st 1901. His early Education was influenced by the able guidance of his father Shamsul Ulama Moulvi Md. Umar Saheb. He was admitted into the Municipal High School, Kurnool in 1912. After passing Matriculation he pursued higher studies in Madras (now Chennai). He continued his higher studies in Oxford and did his D. Phill, under the supervision of Prof D.S.Margoliouth of Oxford University.

He established Osmania College Kurnool in 1947. Apart from college, he established, Umar Arabic High School and Islamia Arabic and Tibbi College Kurnool. Dr. M. Abdul Haq Unani Medical College and Hospital and other institutions like Osmania College of Education, Osmania Law College, Hajira Degree College for women and Hajra Junior College for Girls, sprang up from the same origin established by his able son Mr. M. Mahfuzul Haq Saheb. All the institutions have acquired a National character and they enjoyed minority status.

1. The name of the Association is “ANJUMAN-E-ISLAMIAH”, Kurnool. It was established on 16/01/1922 by the members of the Muslim Community professing Islam as their religion.

2. The ANJUMAN-E-ISLAMIAH, KURNOOL was registered as a society under the society Regn. Act. 1860 bearing Society Number (2) of 1922-23 dt. 16.01.1923 but the bye-laws are revised as set herein to keep pace with the changing needs of the Muslim Society. These revised bye-laws will come into force from the date of registration replacing the original bye laws S2/192-23 dt. 16.01.1922 which ipso facto are rendered defunct.

3. The Registered office of the ANJUMAN-E-ISLAMIAH, KURNOOL, shall be situated in Kurnool at 11/5, Peta, Anjuman-E-Islamiah Campus, Osmania College Road, Kurnool A.P. Pin Code: 518 001 (Andhra Pradesh).

4. The ANJUMAN-E-ISLAMIAH, KURNOOL shall, in accordance with its objects, ideals and traditions, extend and expand its area of lawful service in any part of the country in furtherance of the objects of ANJUMAN-E-ISLAMIAH, KURNOOL.

VISION

To be an excellent regulatory body which guide, develop and sustain a network of ‘Institutions of Excellence’ in education meeting the national needs for global trends and to regulate the practice of Indian System of Medicine.

MISSION

To establish, guide, develop and sustain through resource allocation, good governance and management, dedicated to the maintenance of standards and quality of academic study programmes and practice of Indian System of Medicine to national as well as global needs.

About University

The University is the brain child of Padmashree Dr. Nandamuri Taraka Rama Rao a legendary figure and Former Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh. It was inaugurated in 1986.The first chancellor of the university was none other than Late Dr. N.T.Ramarao . Presently, the Hon’ble Governor of Andhra Pradesh is the Chancellor. It is a state university established with act NO .6 of Andhra Pradesh Legislative assembly in 1986 .
This Act may be called the AP University of Health Sciences Act, 1986. The name of the University of Health Sciences Act, 1986 was amended as “NTR University of Health Sciences AP Act, 1986” vide Act No.4 of 1998. The Change of the name came into effect from 2nd February, 1998 as notified vide G.O.Ms.No.24, dt. 24-1-98.)

The name NTR University of Health Sciences substituted as Dr.NTR University of Health Sciences vide AP Gazette copy dt.16-01-2006.
